That is pervasive systems that are capable of being noticed and that the users may investigate and apprehend mentally. Morten Kyng is professor of pervasive computing at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Aarhus. The professorship is sponsored for a five-year-period by Systematic Software Engineering - www.systematic.dk. Morten received his Doctor of Science from the University of Aarhus in 1996. He currently directs the Centre for Pervasive Computing - www.pervasive.dk, a national research centre with headquarters at Katrinebjerg in Aarhus. In 2001 he was, as the only European, appointed to the ACM CHI Academy for leadership in the field of computer-human interaction.

Olav Bertelsen - Associate Professor
Olav W. Bertelsen is an associate professor of human-computer interaction and systems development at the Department of Computer Science, University of Aarhus. He has been teaching human-computer interaction at the interdisciplinary multimedia education since 1998. His PhD thesis, Elements of a Theory of Design Artefacts, was an attempt to give a systematic account, based on human activity theory, on the tools, methods, techniques etc. mediating the design of computer artefacts. Actual research interests are primarily in the tension between theory and practice He is working on the general re-orientation of human-computer interaction as an aesthetic discipline. In this effort it seems that a systematic account on sensuality and sense perception in interaction, as well as an account on the specifics of cultural formations in relation to development in use are fruitful intellectual resources. In a current project on technology-mediated creativity he has co-developed the concept "instrumentness" as an extension of the tool concept. Ongoing work also addresses the relation between technology and erotic life. In the centre he is primarily involved with research-based user driven innovation initiatives - particularly in the area of empowerment for/by/with handicapped citizens.

Tony Gjerlufsen - PhD Student
Tony Gjerlufsen's primary research interest lies within the cross field of software architecture and interaction design. The main focus of his PhD study is to bridge paths between the runtime software architecture of pervasive systems and using parties' perception and understanding of these systems. This is achieved through exploring and developing the notion of a digital materiality as a resource for both constructing and reasoning about such systems. Present work evolves around developing an open ended system, for pervasive computing, at the core of which lies a reflective, partially asynchronous, and data structured architectural style. The system by construction supports multifarious inspection and interaction capabilities which is used as a vehicle for opening it up for its users. Tony Gjerlufsen worked in the years 2004 to 2007 on the Palcom project, a project which focused on making computing palpable. He received his MSc in Computer Science from the Dept. of Computer Science at University of Aarhus in 2007.
